GED Scholars Initiative


What is the GED Scholars Initiative?

Vision: The GED Scholars Initiative is the first of its kind in the nation. It was created by the Ohio Literacy Resource Center to address the specific needs of students who earn their GED and attend Kent State University. The GED Scholars Initiative works in collaboration with other programs and offices on campus to provide resources to GED students. Through research and development this initiative will provide GED students with support to meet the university's academic standards, complete program studies, gain technological expertise and become aware of career opportunities.

    Financial Support

  • Stipends up to $600
  • Scholarships up to $2000
  • Laptop computers

    Social Support

  • Peer 2 Peer mentoring
  • Shadowing program
  • GED student organization
