Module 6: Jobs by location

Introduction: Have you ever thought about working in another location? A different city? A different state? The web is a good resource for finding lists of jobs by their location.

Objectives: In this lesson you will:

• Use the Career Visions/CareerWAYS Info Connection to find jobs by geographic location.
• Discover jobs currently available for a specific occupation in Ramsey County, MN.
• Research a job of your choice through the Career Visions/CareerWAYS web site.

Activities: Go to the Career Visions/CareerWAYS Info Connection Web site at: http://cvcways.wisc.edu

• Answer the 2 questions listed on the bottom of this home page and then click "Submit".
• This site has a wealth of information on careers, work and education. Look at the buttons on the left side of the page. Each of these buttons provides information on a specific topic. How many topics/buttons are there?

• Click the "World of Work" button. Scroll through the page and look at the variety of work related links given.
• Click the words "Job Banks (by State)" in the Job Search category.
• You will see all 50 states listed on this page. Click on "Minnesota".

You may need to click through a few sites before getting to a listing of jobs.
