National Institute for Literacy
The National Institute for Literacy has established an electronic
network of literacy resources in partnership with the State Literacy Resource
Centers. The Institute and the Centers provide access to literacy resources in
both print and electronic form, discussion groups on a number of topics, access
to other literacy resources on the Internet, and a national calendar of upcoming
literacy related events.
National Center on Adult Literacy
NCAL contains full-text adult literacy research documents, access to
its technology labratory, copies of the NCAL newsletter and publications, and
links to other literacy sites on the Internet. NCAL is a good site for those
interested in finding quality research in the literacy field.
ERIC Clearinghouse on Assessment and Evaluation
This ERIC clearinghouse provides information and resources to aid
educators in assessment and evaluation efforts. The Clearinghouse has a test
locator to aid in the search for specific tests, assessment and evaluation
statistics, full-text documents and tests, bibliographies and essays, and links
to other evaluation and assessment sites
ERIC Clearinghouse Adult Career Vocational Education
Located at the Center on Education and Training for Employment (CETE), the ERIC
Clearinghouse on Adult, Career, and Vocational Education (ERIC/ACVE) is one of 16
clearinghouses in the ERIC system. ERIC/ACVE provides comprehensive information,publications, and services in adult and continuing education, all aspects of career education, and vocational and technical education including work force preparation.
Explorer
Explorer is a collecion of educational resources (instructional
software, lab activites, and lesson plans) for K-12 mathematics and science
education. Many of these resources will be of interest to literacy educators.
EXCHANGE
The goals of EXCHANGE are to provide an opportunity for non-native
English speakers to express themselves through the use of English, to provide
resources to enhance English learning, and to create a unique source of
knowledge and insight about different cultures. To accomplish these goals,
EXCHANGE publishes writings of non-native English speakers from al over the
world, and provides English self-study materials.
Civic Network
The Civic Network is an evolving collection of online resources
dedicated to supporting civic life and citizen participation. The site provides
a wealth of information and resources devoted to civic education.
Midwest Adult Literacy Network
The Midwest Adult Literacy Network, or M-NET is the Midwest Regional Hub within the NIFL LINCS (Literacy Information aNd Communication System) system. Designed to make resources available on the state, regional and national level, M-NET offers many resources through its member states, as well as links to the other hubs in the project. Resources include instructional material, legislative information, funding information as well as Internet information and help.
The National Adult Literacy and Learning Disabilities Center
The National ALLD Center provides resopurces to help practioners
identify and serve adult students who have or may have learning disabilities. Resources provided include phone and email support, listings of resources by state, and targeted training and technical assistance.
Listings of Teachers Resources
Listings such as this one by the Ohio Literacy Resource Center provide links to instructional resources which have been designed for adults, or can be adapted to adults. In turn, many of the pages listed offer additional links to other resources.
