Planning a Trip
Using the Internet

DAY ONE

Students will meet with teacher. Project activities and results will be discussed. Students will utilize Map Quest and discuss time zones, methods of travel and determine approximate travel time. Students will complete items one, two and three on worksheet. Students will sign onto the Internet and explore the search page.

DAY TWO

Students will sign onto the Internet and utilizing three different search engines, type in their destination and obtain information about their destination. One fact must be the name of a visitor's bureau or chamber of commerce.

DAY THREE

Students will utilize the word processing program on the computer and write a business letter to the chamber of commerce or visitor's bureau.

DAY FOUR

Students will obtain lodging information via hotel Internet services and obtain rate information.

DAY FIVE

Students will complete a budget sheet for the trip.

DAY SIX

Student will write rough and final draft of paragraph on why an automobile is or is not the best means of travel. Final draft to be written on worksheet.

DAY SEVEN

Students will seek weather information on their destination at their time of travel.

DAY EIGHT

Students will meet as a group with instructor to share their trips.
