Chris McKeon - Reading Consultant

OLRC Start Date: September 2000

Education: B.A., Elementary Education, Walsh University, M.A., Reading, University of Akron, Ph.D., Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in literacy, Kent State University.

Chris is the Coordinator for the OLRC�s Ohio Writers� Conference. Her professional experience includes teaching second grade, Title I reading, and high school reading over a span of 11 years, as well college preservice teacher reading instruction for over 25 years. Chris's workshop presentations and publications range from early childhood to adult literacy.

Chris is married to John McKeon, Professor of Sociology and Criminology, at Walsh University. They have two teenage boys, Jimmy and Matthew, who compose lyrics and music for their popular local band, Harsh Manner. Hence, Chris's hobby is "supporting" and "traveling" with the boys' band in Northeastern Ohio. On the road, and in-between musical renditions -- she loves to read!
