ABLELink Program FAQ
Why should I back up?
Backing up your database folder is vital. And backing up on a regular basis (once a week or more often if you have a large program and hundreds of students) can save you time in the long run if something should happen to the computer you are working on (computers are cranky!). If you do not want to re-enter students in the future, PLEASE BACK UP YOUR DATA.
How does ABLELink calculate educational functioning levels?
Levels are derived from scale scores (not grade level equivalents). The scale score from the Initial Test which puts the student in the lowest level is the default tracking subject. If more than one scale score puts the student in the same lowest level, the lowest scale score is used for the tracking subject. Progress assessments for the Tracking Subject are used to determine progress and exit levels as well as student achievement.
This is defined in the ODE Assessment Policy http://www.ode.state.oh.us/GD/Templates/Pages/ODE/ODEDetail.aspx?page=3&TopicRelationID=882&Content=17125
Why isn’t there a Student Achievement displayed for my student?
There may be several reasons, but the most common is that there isn’t any attendance entered for the student or the attendance entered doesn’t have valid dates. In order to determine whether students have Exited Before Completing a Level or are Progressing at the Same Level, ABLELink needs the latest date of attendance. It may be entered as Detail or Total Attendance.
Why aren’t the Progress or Exit Levels being displayed even though I have assessments entered?
Most likely, there isn’t a Progress scale score entered for the Tracking Subject. You may be tracking on a subject other than the default Tracking Subject. You can either manually change the Tracking Subject to the subject that you’re tracking in or enter the Progress scores for the Tracking Subject.
