NRS Measures
| Measure | Definition |

Educational Gains:
|
Learner completes or advances one or more educational functioning levels from starting level measured on entry into the program. |
| Entered Employment | Learners who are unemployed at the time of entry and who have a primary or secondary goal of obtaining employment. |
| Retained Employment | Learners who, at the time of entry, are unemployed and had a primary or secondary goal of obtaining employment by the first quarter after exit quarter; or learner is employed at entry and has a primary or secondary goal of improved or retained employment. |
| Receipt of secondary school diploma or GED | All learners with a main or secondary goal of passing the GED test or obtaining a secondary school diploma or its recognized equivalent. |
| Placement in postsecondary education or training | All learners with a goal of placement in postsecondary education or training. |
What is an Outcome Measure?
The five NRS core outcome measures were selected to address the requirements for core indicators of performance in the Adult Education and Family Literacy Act of the Workforce Investment Act (WIA).
