Hi Sherrye,
I agree with Laurie that a combination of resources works well. However, 
if you want to tap another expert, try Bill Muth. He gave the keynote at 
the ALD session last fall and he is former director of reading for the 
prison system (US). He teaches adult literacy at VCU. His email is:

I'm piggybacking on Robin's previous email.  I'm teaching a course in 
Adult Literacy in the fall and I'm wondering if any of you have a 
recommendation for a textbook.  I've never found a book(s) that fits the 
course.  I appreciate any help.
