Decide and Prioritize

Setting goals and prioritizing tasks can be simply planning your evening, or planning a large portion of your life. To accomplish your goals it is important to break the job into small pieces or tasks. Prioritizing these tasks can be as simple as realizing you have to go to the grocery store before you can make dinner. They can be much more complicated as well, such as include long term plans to gain additional education.

When prioritizing, keep the following ideas in mind:
  • What is your long-term goal?
  • What must be done to achieve this goal?
  • Make a list of these tasks.
  • Look at the list to see if any tasks must be done before you can do another.
  • Put the tasks in order, according to when they need to be done and how important each one is.
  • Focus on these tasks as you plan each day. Try not to let the things that distract you interfere with completing each task.
  • Track your progress.
  • Reward yourself as you achieve your goals, both small and large.

Following are several activites which will help you to practice prioritizing tasks to complete a goal.
