Volunteer!

What Type of Training is Offered?

What kind of training will I get when I volunteer?
Training is usually provided by the organization you will be volunteering with. The length of training varies from program to program but is usually two or three hours a day for two or three days.

You will learn strategies for helping people learn to read, what kind of materials to use, and how to keep track of the time you spend tutoring and the activities you complete with your student.

Volunteer training and information is also available on-line through the Verizon Literacy Campus http://www.vluonline.org/course/index.asp and through the LEARN program from NorthWest Regional Educational Laboratory http://www.nwrel.org/learns.
