- Getting Started on the Internet
- This guide is intended to help people
who are just getting started on the Internet learn their way
around. Click on a topic button on the left of the page to get started.
Has cute duck cartoons.
- Finding Information on the Internet: A TUTORIAL
- This tutorial presents the substance of the Internet Workshops offered year-round by the
Teaching Library at the University of California at Berkeley. This site is very straight forward and business like.
- Beginners Central (Intro)
- Our purpose here will be to walk you
through your beginning steps on the Internet, help show you how and where to find information that
you can actually use instead of being overwhelmed by thousands of bits and pieces of information
that you don't need. In effect, we will try to help you bring order to the chaos.
You have to get past some self-promotion to get to the tutorial, but the authors have a good sense of humor.
- YIL: Surf School, The Absolute Basics
- An excellent guide for new users. Includes a section on "stupid browser tricks" and a "How to Surf" section which is where they teach you the
nitty-gritty of using the Net. This site has one of the best glossaries of web lingo I've seen. It's also very user friendly.
