Virtual Field Trips

Field-Guides   Field trips offer excitement, adventure, and learning about the world. Now you can avoid those long, bumpy  bus rides  and cold lunches. The Virtual Field Trips Web site is devoted to providing on-line field trips that take you to places  that until now you could only dream about, and teach you things you might not otherwise learn.
Infosearcher   Welcome to Information Searcher's CyberTours, an electronic extension of Internet for Active Learners: K-12 Curriculum Strategies by Pam Berger (ALA Editions, 1998). Information Searcher and Tramline  Inc., the online education company, have joined forces to produce these tours. They will guide you through pre-selected Web sites to explore a curriculum-based theme or teaching strategy, expanding the content, concepts and theory outlined in Berger's eight chapter book. They're available to all educators who want to learn how to use the Internet to have an impact on student learning in their libraries and classrooms.
Virtualblackboard The Virtual Web Tours on this page are great learning activities for students. Some tours also have teacher's resources and classroom activities.

http://www.vlib.org/  The VL is the oldest catalog of the web, started by Tim Berners-Lee, the creator of the web itself. Unlike commercial catalogs, it is run by a loose confederation of volunteers, who compile pages of key links for particular areas in which they are expert; even though it isn't the biggest index of the web, the VL pages are widely recognised as being amongst the highest-quality guides to particular sections of the web.
