Title: Peek-a-Boo

Developmental Significance: To provide experiences with object permanence, which allows the child to realize that an object still exists even though it's not seen.

Objective: To help the child establish the concept of object permanence

Materials:

  • Blanket
  • Toys

Activities:

  • Hide your face under a blanket while sitting in front of the child. As you remove the blanket, smile and say "Peek-a-boo!"
  • Take one of the child's toys, such as a rattle or block and place it under the blanket while the child is watching. Encourage the child to remove the blanket that is covering his/her toy.
