Women in History Teaching Ideas
Select titles from different time periods. Ask learners to compare and contrast.
Select a biography of an individual and a title that offers biographies of several women. Ask learners to compare and contrast.
Ask each learner to read a biography of a woman of interest. Follow with an inquiry project based on WWW resources.
Use the "Role in History" column to select books about women who have had similar occupations or made similar contributions (e.g., abolitionists, aviators, monarchs). Invite individuals or pairs of learners to read each title. Follow reading with discussion about women's roles in that occupation/ contribution.
