Gary was part of the team that wrote the initial grant to fund a state literacy center at Kent State University. He serves as one of the OLRC's Project Faculty members and consults and advises the Center as needed.

Gary is Dean of Undergraduate Studies at Kent State University, and was previously theDirector of the Academic Success Center.

Gary is married to Nancy Padak, the Center's Project Administrator and has 3 children. His hobbies include reading, racquetball, and crossword puzzles.
