EDR 5

Program partners in EDR 5 worked together to create the Career Awareness Toolkit, including lessons on communication, math and reading that embed career awareness information for the Basic Certificate. The following ABLE programs participated in this project: Cincinnati Public, Hamilton City, Urban Appalachian Council, Warren County, YWCA of Greater Cincinnati.

Please contact Jimmi McIntosh mcintosh_j@ccesc.org for more information about these lessons.

Middletown ABLE was awarded an Innovation Grant in 2011. As one component of the grant, teachers developed contextualized lessons that addressed ABLE standards and benchmarks, but utilized content applicable to fields beyond the grant. Middletown partnered with Butler Tech (a local technology and career development school) and framed many of the lessons in their career pathways. In addition to working toward their ABLE goals, this process enables students to understand the applicability of the curriculum and work toward post-secondary education and career goals.

A Contextualized Lesson Planner (CLP) was hired half-time to work with teachers to write the lessons and enter them into a local repository. Please contact Jennifer Edwards, jennifer.f.edwards@gmail.com or Rose Marie Stiehl, rmstiehl@cinci.rr.com, for more information regarding these lessons.
