Goals

The way you set your goals affects their effectiveness

Goal setting is deciding what you want to do, why you want to do it, when you are going to do it and how you are going to do it.

Setting goals helps you to accomplish things which are important in both your work and home life.

Plan the Plan and not the results. As you begin to think about our goals, keep the following things in mind.

Be Positive: have a good attitude
Be Realistic: know yourself and your comfort level
Set Deadlines: be realistic so you don't become frustrated
Prioritize: make lists, break things into smaller pieces
Write down your goals & keep them visible: this will help you stay on task
Make your goals small and achievable: for better success
List your values: what's important to you?
Plan for the future and place yourself there: visualize, fantasize

Activites:

  • Write down 7 things you want this year (career/personal)
Focus and relax. Let your mind roam. Meditate/reflect on one project at a time

  • Prioritize them by listing the 3 most important
The next section will help you begin to set priorities by thinking about what needs to be done, how you work, and when you are most productive.
